PTI Leader Zartaj Gul Summoned in Corruption Case

Former state minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Zartaj Gul has been booked on corruption charges by the Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) in Dera Ghazi Khan. The ACE conducted a raid at her residence after she failed to appear for several summons regarding the corruption cases against her. Zartaj Gul is alleged to have awarded contracts for developmental projects to intermediaries at lower rates in exchange for bribes.

Repeated Summonses:

Zartaj Gul has been summoned multiple times by the ACE to respond to the corruption allegations. Despite being summoned on April 10, she did not appear before the anti-corruption authorities. Consequently, ACE Punjab has issued further summonses, including one on April 19 and another on May 11 at 10 in the morning.

Allegations of Corruption:

The charges against Zartaj Gul involve granting contracts for various developmental projects to individuals acting as ‘frontmen’ at reduced rates, allegedly in exchange for bribes. It is claimed that she and her husband, Humayun Akhund, were involved in taking a ten percent commission for facilitating funds for development schemes within her constituency. These actions have purportedly caused financial losses to the national treasury.

Impact on Development Schemes:

Zartaj Gul and her husband are also accused of revising development schemes, leading to significant financial losses for the national exchequer. These allegations suggest that their actions not only involved bribery and commissions but also negatively impacted the effectiveness of development initiatives.

Zartaj Gul, a prominent figure in the PTI, is facing mounting legal challenges related to corruption allegations. The ACE’s repeated summonses indicate the seriousness of the case. If proven guilty, her actions could have detrimental effects on both the local development projects and the reputation of her political party. The results of the investigation will clarify whether or not the allegations against her and her husband are true.
