Pakistani traders will now be able to sell their products on a giant marketplace, Amazon
Advisor to Prime Minister on Commerce and Investment, Abdul Razak Dawood announced on Thursday through a tweet that Amazon will be adding Pakistan to the list of sellers now. He regarded it as a result of teamwork, and a big opportunity for youth and women entrepreneurs. This milestone is achieved due to the collaborative efforts of the Commerce Ministry and Pakistani Mission in Washington. Prime Minister, Imran Khan, called it a great development. Pakistani youth is superbly advocating this breakthrough i.e. this news became a Twitter trend after the announcement.
Amazon is a big international marketplace for selling goods. Anyone can sell his product online in the international market with the help of Amazon. Many neighboring countries. i.e. Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, etc. are sellers of Amazon but now Pakistan will also stand in the list of seller countries.
Already, many Pakistani companies and brands are selling on Amazon through overseas offices. Moreover, the third party was involved in payment and other processes in past but now any Pakistani trader will be able to export his product through Amazon. Pakistani banks and payment methods will be utilized instead of third-party involvement. The scope of E-commerce has observed a dramatic increase in the last few years. E-Commerce has become the need of the hour due to COVID pandemic as there is no choice other than online shopping nowadays.
This milestone will help Pakistan to export “Made in Pakistan” products to the whole world. It is a great opportunity for foreign exchange earnings. Any average trader will be able to sell his product on Amazon and this will ultimately help in eradicating unemployment. According to the announcement, the seller′s registration will open soon. Still, there is a need to meet other challenges connected with this i.e. State Bank policy, payment methods, terms and conditions with Amazon, etc. Some positive response is observable as Pakistan Post has been automated for fast parcel deliveries and National E-commerce Council′s implementation of commerce policies etc.
